Lucky Strike cigarettes
Lucky Strike cigarettes brand was first introduced by R. A. Patterson from Richmond, Virginia in 1871. First it was produced as chewing tobacco and later as cigarettes. In 1905 the brand was bought by American Tobacco Company, which later became British American Tobacco. In 1917 Lucky Strike cigarettes used advertising slogan “It’s toasted”, informing customers about its manufacturing method, when tobacco is toasted, rather than sun dried. Its green colored box design was changed to white in 1942, and the famous advertising slogan during that time was “Lucky Strike green has gone to war”. The company claimed the change was made because of limited supply of products which were used to produce green color during the war. But the true reason for design change was to make the brand attractive for women customers. Lucky Strike cigarettes logo was created by famous industrial designer Raymond Loewy, who also created the logos for AT&T, Exxon, Shell and Coca Cola. Lucky Strikes featured in many modern games, books, anime, songs and movies.
